Our Story
22+ Years of Mapping expertise and growing with our clients.
Informap was established in the UAE in 2002 by acquiring Spatial Data Integrators (SDI) company from MAPS geosystems, Sharjah.
Realizing the importance of detailed building level maps for accurate door delivery and emergency response, the founders realized the need for establishing a Virtual Addressing System for the UAE. Thus in 2005, Informap released a 6-digit based UAE Locator Addressing System called Geo-Reference Locator (GRL). Today, it has been upgraded to a 7-digit system called Geo-Reference Code (GRC) to locate every single building in the UAE.

Innovations
At Informap, we are committed to continuous innovation, both in technology and in delivering value. While our technological advancements often happen behind the scenes at the engineering and systems level, our value innovations are directly felt by our customers. One such example is our GRL value innovation, which has taken over a decade to reach and benefit businesses and residents across the UAE.
GPS Vehicle Tracking
Informap was a pioneer in the UAE to introduce GPS tracking technology using SMS communication, long before it became mainstream. Early on, we recognized the need for GPS devices that could withstand the harsh desert climate.
To meet this challenge, we sourced specially manufactured units from Korea, custom-built for Informap. This strategic decision ensured exceptional reliability and high accuracy. Remarkably, these devices served our customers for nearly a decade before being upgraded to 4G-enabled models.
On the software side, Informap continued to drive value innovation by incorporating real-world use cases brought to us by our customers. We developed a comprehensive suite of reports tailored to a wide range of industries, helping businesses unlock measurable benefits from their fleet operations.
To meet the complex requirements of large enterprises, we created FLEETMAMA. a specialized vehicle key management system, designed for managing the keys of large fleet.
Recognizing that drivers are often unfairly seen as the weak link in GPS tracking and fleet management, Informap took a more inclusive approach. We developed DriversLOG, an intuitive app that empowers drivers to log vehicle related activities through voice recording and photos, from purchase to sale or scrapping, By positioning the driver as a key stakeholder in the tracking ecosystem, we built a system that encourages accountability, transparency, and engagement.
Similarly, when our users needed to track their field staff, Informap designed and developed a smartphone-based solution called MiTrack that enables real-time staff tracking, task assignment, activity monitoring, and enhanced safety assurance in the field.
Addressing System
When Informap started its Dubai operations back in 2002, one of the major challenges faced by enterprises, particularly in food and parcel delivery, was the absence of a digital addressing system in the UAE.
To solve this, Informap designed and developed the Geo Reference Locator (GRL), a six-digit virtual addressing system similar to a web URL. By simply adding a unique GRL code to a customer’s address, the location became instantly identifiable and navigable. As a result, fast-food chains like McDonald’s have been able to achieve home deliveries in under 10 minutes—without needing to call the customer for directions.
Today, the GRL system has evolved into a more advanced 7-digit Geo Reference Code (GRC), with each digit carrying specific meaning. At a glance, delivery personnel can identify the Emirate, region, area, and even the building number, making navigation faster and more intuitive. The GRC is now widely adopted across the UAE for last-mile delivery, significantly enhancing logistics efficiency and customer satisfaction.
To support this digital addressing system, Informap maintains a robust Geographic Information System (GIS). We update digital data layers, including establishment records and building details, on a quarterly basis to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Home Delivery Solutions
Informap recognized that in last-mile delivery, having an accurate customer address is only part of the solution. Small and medium-sized businesses also need an affordable platform and a reliable rider app to manage deliveries efficiently and cost-effectively.
Drawing on our experience in developing systems for large enterprises, Informap created PickNdrop, a versatile dispatch management platform paired with a user-friendly rider app, specifically designed to meet the needs of small and medium businesses.
With PickNdrop, businesses can manage door-to-door deliveries independently, without relying on costly third-party delivery platforms. This empowers them to retain control over their operations and protect their margins from excessive commission fees.
