Mr. Ummer Sahib Director, Informap Technology Center
Born in India, Mr. Sahib holds M.Tech in City Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, CEPT University in Ahmedabad and AITP from the Institute of Town Planners, India. He also holds the position of Fellow in the Institute of Directors (IOD).
Mr. Sahib played a dominant role in designing and developing India’s first GIS and Mapping software at Systems Research Institute, Pune for Department of Electronics, Govt. of India. In 1989, he joined MAPS geosystems, Sharjah and was responsible for executing large GIS automation and navigation data projects in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
Mr. Sahib has been the Team Leader in executing GIS Projects in several key organizations in the UAE, Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Portugal, India, Thailand, Lebanon, Yemen and in the Republic of Seychelles.
With 30+ years of experience in the geospatial industry, Mr. Sahib possess the in-depth expertise and thorough knowledge in LBS, GPS, Fleet Management, GIS Design, Satellite, and Aerial Imaging, navigation data, land information system and internet map services. His global exposure and practical expertise in leading multi-million dollar projects paved the way to establish Informap’s GPS Tracking platform and innovating solutions for various industries. He was team leader in developing Accident Referencing and Analysis system for Abu Dhabi Police and the Municipality.
Being the thought leader of Informap, innovative transitions and several new solutions were rolled out over the last 15 years. His leadership, problem-solving skills, and enthusiastic creativity are the philosophy and streaming energy of Informap.
Mr. Sahib has authored several research publications and has been a speaker on GPS and NFC Technologies. He currently promotes the use of Open Source GIS service under SaaS model. He has co-authored the book "E-Governance for Smart Cities", published by Springer Germany in 2015 and has been a speaker at several conferences and seminars on Smart Cities. His second co-authored book published by Springer in 2017 is "E-democracy for smart cities".
In 2019, Springer published Mr. Sahib’s third co-authored book on “ Smart Environment for Smart Cities”.

Awards
Founded in 1972 by Jean-Luc Vincent, this fair takes place every year in Palexpo, in the city of Grand-Saconnex. It attracts close to 800 exhibitors from 45 countries, exhibiting 1,000 inventions and welcoming more than 60,000 visitors each year. The trend of inventions is in the fields of energy, ecology, environment and security. It is recognized as the world's most important market place for inventions.
